Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said here on Monday that the level of Iran-Cyprus ties could be expanded in all arenas.
Talking to reporters, Larijani underscored that he has discussed the ways for implementing mutual agreements, tackling terrorist groups and settling the regional crisis in a meeting with his visiting Cypriot counterpart Demetris Syllouris.
Commenting on the joint press conference held with the parliament speakers of the two countries, Larijani hailed Cyprus cordial relations with Iran.
Thanks to Cyprus’ geographical location in Europe, he added, the state is the closest one to Iran in the European Union.
The ways for expansion of mutual banking cooperation and preparing the ground for proper activities of the Iranian and Cypriot businessmen were among other issues discussed during the meeting, Larijani added.
Larijani reiterated that Iran attaches great importance for expansion of cultural, economic, scientific and political ties with Cyprus.
Syllouris arrived in Tehran on Sunday (Oct 30) at the invitation of Larijani for a three-day visit
