British Ambassador Nicholas Hopton Submits Credentials to President Rouhani
“British banks must consolidate bilateral transactions with Iranian banks,” said President Rouhani. On the occasion that UK Ambassador Nicholas Hopton tendered his credentials, Rouhani stressed that the clauses in The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action must be respected by all concerned. “We must make up for lost time,” he continued.
President Rouhani said that it was important that cooperation between the two major nations should continue. Progress has been made, he added, adding: “The good work must continue.
“We, the seven signatories of the JCPA accord achieved a great deal,” said Rouhani. “We underlined that diplomacy is the key to solving facing the world,” he continued. “We have carried out our obligations in the nuclear field, as stipulated in the treaty,” said the president. All signatories must equally abide by their obligations. Much remains to be done in the Economic, scientific, cultural and political domains, said the President. “We must consolidate banking ties and cooperation,” he added.
British Ambassador Hopton responded that considerable bilateral progress was made and British banks are anxious to cooperate with Iranian corporations. “Our major banks will shortly begin negotiations with their Iranian counterparts and Iran Central Bank,” stated Hopton. Ambassador Hopton also touched on regional issues where Britain was ready to deliberate and cooperate with Iran wherever possible, he concluded..
