A senior lawmaker has said that Iran is following the independent policies based on national interests, stressing that Iran does make none of its plans corresponding to whom takes power in the USAlaeddin Boroujerdi, Chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, made the remarks commenting on the election of Donald Trump as the new American president on November 8.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution is the only one who directs the nation to the country’s independent policies, Boroujerdi noted.

About the July 2015 nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Boroujerdi told IRNA that the deal is an official international commitment endorsed by the United Nations resolution 2231.

If a country from the six world powers- the US, UK, France, China, Russia and Germany- breaks the deal, the negative impacts of that breaking will only affect that certain country, the parliamentarian stressed.

US is not the only country involved in the deal, but there are other world powers which have signed the JCPOA, Boroujerdi added.

About the US developments after election of Trump, he said, ‘What is important for Iran after the election is that the US should change its anti-human policies in the region.’

He made the remarks while referring to the massacre of the defenseless people by Saudi Arabia in Yemen, stressing the killings are done with the support of the US.

He further concluded that Iran is carefully watching the new US government to see what will happen in that country
