The Russian Federation Council chief Valentina Ivanovna said relations between Tehran and Moscow will regularly continue at the highest level possible as a token of close cooperation between the two countries.
In an interview with Rossiya Segodnya News Agency prior to her visit to Iran, she said the parliaments of the two countries enjoy constructive and active cooperation as well.
She said the cooperation between the Iranian and Russian parliament officials have so far had many effective outcomes.
She stressed that the visit of the Russian delegation to Iran and the talks they are going to conduct in Tehran with Iranian officials is another step forward to consolidate bilateral relations which is of high significance for the whole region.
The Russian Federation Council chief further said she will take part in a gathering in Tehran which prepares the ground for holding another international event in Russia with participation of Iranian officials.
She said the Russian Federation Council attached great importance to ties with Iran.
Ivanovna is arriving in Iran Sunday evening on an official visit to review possible avenues for fostering mutual relations.
While in Tehran, Ivanovna will hold talks with senior Iranian officials including President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani as well as Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif.
She is slated to discuss possible ways for fostering regional, international and parliamentary cooperation during her two-day visit.
Her trip to Tehran is part of visits between Tehran and Moscow following the implementation of last year’s nuclear agreement, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), on January 16
