Rouhani says close ties with neighbors among Iran’s policies

President Hassan Rouhani says close relations with the those neighboring countries which enjoy national security and greater economic capacities, are among Iran’s policies.Before departing here Wednesday for Yerevan, the President told reporters that he is starting his visits to Armenia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan at the invitation of his counterparts.

Rouhani added that Iran enjoyed good economic cooperation with those three nations, stressing Tehran’s readiness to offer engineering and technical services to them.

As the three nations are members of Eurasian Economic Community, Iran has had closer relations with them in recent years, President Rouhani noted.

Rouhani went on to say that Iran is seeking the economic cooperation focused on preferential tariff scheme as well as free trade agreements with them.

‘Through Armenia, we can gain access to the Black Sea, then build a link to the Western and European countries,’ the President stressed.

Pointing to the railway link Iran has with Kazakhstan, he said it provides a chance for Iran to get connected to its neighbors in north and west.

Furthermore, China is seeking to build a railway link to Iran through Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and parts of Afghanistan which will enter the Iranian territorty in east of the country, the President said.

About his regional visits, Rouhani noted that the issues of terrorism, insecurity and regional unity will be discussed.

Also, as Iran and those neighboring states enjoy commonalities regarding their culture and civilization, they can have good cultural relations, he added.

A number of Iranian entrepreneurs and businessmen are accompanying President Rouhani in his three-nation tour.
